微软承诺为货运运输额外付费，以覆盖运输服务器机架的航班使用可持续航空燃料（SAF）的成本。

　　全球货运量排名第十的卢森堡货运航空（Cargolux）与微软物流服务提供商 AIT 全球物流周二宣布，这家科技巨头已签署一项大规模协议，支持购买价格为传统航空燃料 3-4 倍的可持续航空燃料。三家公司称，该合作将在未来三年减少 72，750 吨导致气候变暖的二氧化碳排放。

　　由瓦莱罗营销与供应公司及其合资企业 Diamond Green Diesel LLC 生产和供应的 SAF，以废食用油和动物脂肪为原料（不含棕榈油或任何衍生物）。这种生物燃料将在休斯顿乔治・布什洲际机场注入卢森堡货运航空的燃料供应系统。微软将通过认证注册机构为其 SAF 投入获得绿色信用积分。

　　微软云制造运营与履行总经理科林・托德（Colin Todd）在新闻稿中表示：“在我们继续推进微软可持续发展目标的过程中，供应链生态系统的协作至关重要。通过共同努力增加 SAF 的生产和使用，我们能够以经济高效的方式推动减排，并提升运输生态系统中更多使用替代燃料的潜力。”

　　该公司运营着 30 架波音 747-8 和 747-400 货机机队，并已向波音订购 10 架下一代 777-8 货机，以替换老化的 747-400 机型，交付预计在本十年末启动。

　　可持续燃料相比化石燃料可减少 80% 的温室气体排放，但部分批评者指出，生产和运输至机场的生命周期排放可能抵消其效益。
