European Bank Stocks Slide After Trump Tariff Threat -- Market Talk

1221 GMT - European bank shares are among the biggest declines amid widespread losses in the region's stocks after U.S. President Trump threatened new tariffs on imports from the European Union. The Stoxx Europe 600 Banks index is down 3.8%, while the Euro Stoxx Banks index of eurozone banks falls 4.4%. Italy's Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, France's Societe Generale and Spain's CaixaBank are among the biggest losers, all down more than 5%. Deutsche Bank, Banco Santander, BNP Paribas and UniCredit all shed more than 4%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
