Market Chatter: Meta Wins Legal Battle in Germany to Train AI with User Posts

Meta Platforms (META) was cleared to adopt Facebook and Instagram user posts to train artificial intelligence models after a German consumer rights group failed to win a court injunction to stop the practice, Reuters reported Friday.

The court in the western city of Cologne denied the request from Verbraucherzentrale NRW, a state-funded consumer rights organization, the report said.

Last month, Meta said EU users would be notified of the project and provided with an opportunity to opt out, the report said.

Meta and Verbraucherzentrale didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
