Urban Outfitters recorded higher first-quarter earnings and sales as revenue increased across its three main brands.
The Philadelphia fashion conglomerate on Wednesday posted a profit of $108.3 million, or $1.16 a share, in the quarter ended April 30, compared with $61.8 million, or 65 cents a share, a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected a profit of $78.2 million, or 82 cents a share.
Revenue rose 11% to $1.33 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $1.29 billion. Same-store retail sales increased 5%, driven by mid-single-digit growth in both in-store and digital channel sales, Urban Outfitters said.
Broken out by brand, same-store sales increased 7% at Anthropologie, 3% at Free People and 2% at the company's namesake brand Urban Outfitters.
