Honda Motor (TYO:7267) Indian unit Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will construct a fourth production line at its Vithalapur plant in Gujarat, according to its statement on Thursday.

This new line, slated for operation in 2027, will add an annual production capacity of 650,000 units.

This expansion will increase the fourth plant's total capacity to 2.61 million units, making it Honda's largest motorcycle assembly plant globally.

Honda is investing approximately 9.2 billion rupees or equivalent to about 16.1 billion yen for this 650,000-unit line, which will produce 125cc class motorcycles.

This builds on the plant's previous expansions, with its second line starting in June 2016 and a third line in January 2024, raising capacity to 1.96 million units.
