0341 GMT - China's electric-vehicle sector will continue seeing stronger demand in May and June, driven by more new models, a refreshed supply and more price discounts, HSBC Global Research analysts write in a note. China has also seen a downgrade in consumption, particulary for price tags below CNY100,000, they add. Budget full-electric vehicle models, such as Geely Galaxy's Star Wish and XPeng's Mona 03 have been doing well, likely followed by more new model supplies, they say. However, industry profit is likely to keep facing pressure from a lower product mix and challenge pricing, they say. HSBC Global Research prefers EV makers with strong new car cycles, such as Geely and XPeng.(jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
