E-mart Expected to Turn Around After Two Years of Net Losses -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
23 May

0211 GMT - E-mart is expected to turn around this year after posting net losses for two consecutive years, Nomura analyst Siwoo Kim writes in a note. The South Korean discount-store chain's profit margin is likely to improve on cost-saving efforts and integrated purchases, Kim says. He also forecasts a recovery in margins at SCK, an E-mart-affiliated operator of Starbucks Korea, thanks to the won's appreciation and lower coffee-bean prices, he notes. The stock is trading at a lower valuation multiple to its local peers and is seen as appealing, he adds. Nomura raises the stock's target price by 11% to KRW104,000 and maintains a buy rating. Shares are 0.5% lower at KRW86,900. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
