斯里兰卡央行周四出人意料地将政策利率下调25个基点，旨在在金融危机后促进更强劲的经济增长，并缓冲美国可能征收关税的影响。
斯里兰卡央行在一份声明中表示，将隔夜政策利率下调至7.75%，而此前接受调查的经济学家一致预期该行将维持其政策立场。
斯里兰卡央行表示：“理事会认为，在全球不确定性和当前通胀压力较低的情况下，这种有步骤地放松货币政策立场，将有助于将通胀导向5%的目标。”
在国际货币基金组织（IMF）提供的29亿美元方案的支持下，斯里兰卡已从三年前外汇储备严重短缺造成的金融危机中稳步复苏。
该国经济在2024年实现了5%的增长，世界银行预测，斯里兰卡今年的经济增长率将达到3.5%。
斯里兰卡央行补充称，今年4月通胀率为- 2%，预计将在第三季度初转为正通胀。
分析师们表示，预计通胀率到2026年才会达到该行设定的5%的目标。
