国际货币基金组织（IMF）第一副总裁吉塔·戈皮纳特在接受金融时报采访时表示，美国的财政赤字过大，需要加以削减。戈皮纳特指出，美国的债务与国内生产总值的比率“一直在不断上升”。戈皮纳特表示，“在美国，我们的财政政策应当与逐步降低债务与国内生产总值的比率这一目标相一致。”
