《路透》引述消息报道，美国已邀请日本、韩国等亚洲地区官员6月2日前往美国阿拉斯加，讨论包括管道在内的天然气开发项目。负责美国能源政策的美国内政部长Doug Burgu及能源部长Chris Wright将主持活动。
有关活动包括参观偏远的阿拉斯加北坡(North Slope)，该处为未开发天然气田所在。美国拟透过管道把天然气传送到1,300公里外的港口，以便由船只转运，目标主要为亚洲客户，管道项目总值440亿美元。消息称，是次活动不大可能在管道项目有协议，亦不清楚出席活动的人数及层级。
美国总统特朗普曾推动日本及韩国购买更多美国能源，并以贸易关税作要胁。(fc/u)
