Comcast's (CMCSA) NBCUniversal has submitted an offer to take over ESPN's contract with Major League Baseball or MLB after the Walt Disney (DIS)-owned network decided to end the partnership with the 2025 season, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
The sources told the news outlet that ESPN's contract covers the package of regular-season and post-season games and that the offer was submitted earlier this month. NBC offered "significantly less" that the ESPN contract partly due to the exclusion of international and radio rights, the sources added.
MLB, ESPN, and NBCUniversal did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
