格隆汇5月22日｜英国工业联合会表示，英国制造业本月订单和产出大幅萎缩，这与周四稍早公布的另一项备受关注的商业调查结果相吻合。英国工业联合会(CBI) 5月份制造业新订单差值从4月份的负26降至负30，为1月份以来的最低水平。

在该报告发布之前，标普全球对制造业进行了调查，结果显示制造业出现了严重衰退，裁员速度是自五年前疫情爆发以来最快的。

英国工业联合会首席经济学家Ben Jones表示：“英国制造商的情绪似乎不佳，反映出国内企业成本上升和美国关税不确定性的综合影响。”Jones补充说，企业正面临来自高能源成本、劳动力成本上升以及政府即将出台的《就业权利法案》带来的额外监管威胁的压力。
