Market Chatter: Coupang Faces South Korea FTC Probe Over Potential Unfair Bundling in Wow Membership

Coupang (CPNG) is facing an on-site investigation by South Korea's Fair Trade Commission looking into potential "tying" practices related to the company's Wow Membership service, Business Korea reported Thursday, citing industry sources and the agency.

The regulator sent investigators to secure relevant data from Coupang's Seoul headquarters, according to the report.

The inquiry will check if Coupang unfairly combines services like free Coupang Play and no delivery fees for Coupang Eats with its Wow Membership, which would break trade rules, the report said.

Coupang and South Korea's FTC did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
