Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) secured a major foundry contract to manufacture the main Nvidia-designed chips for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 gaming console, which is scheduled to launch globally in June, The Korea Herald reported Wednesday.
Samsung will make the chips for Nintendo using its 8-nanometer process. The production is fast enough to support more than 20 million console shipments by March 2026, which is well above Nintendo's 15 million forecast, the report said.
Shares of Samsung Electronics fell nearly 2% at market close on Thursday.
