Canadian National Railway plans to invest almost 600 million Canadian dollars, equivalent to $431 million, in Ontario to support track maintenance and infrastructure development in the province.
The freight-rail company said Wednesday that the spending will include more than $49 million as part of the construction of a logistics hub west of Toronto in Milton, a multi-year project in one of the country's busiest and fastest-growing regions.
It also plans to invest more than C$60 million with project partners to complete the first phase and advance the second phase of a new high loading fuel terminal at its MacMillan yard in Vaughn, which serves customers in the Greater Toronto Area.
Last week, CN Rail said it aimed to invest C$3.4 billion in maintaining and expanding its rail network in North America. The capital program for the year includes roughly C$2.9 billion allocated to maintenance and strategic infrastructure programs across Canada and the U.S.
