智通财经APP获悉，矿业巨头力拓(RIO.US)目前正在进行初步工程和最终研究，计划到2029年将其位于澳大利亚昆士兰州远北地区的Amrun项目的铝土矿产量几乎翻倍。力拓周四表示，正在推进一个名为Kangwinan的新项目。该项目的产量将替代预计将在本十年末关闭的Andoom和Gove矿场。此次扩产将使力拓Weipa南部运营区的年铝土矿产能在目前2300万吨的基础上最多增加2000万吨，并扩大Amrun港口的出口能力。最终投资决策预计将在明年作出。
力拓今年第一季度的铝土矿产量同比增长了12%。其中部分Weipa南部的产出被出口至中国客户，部分则在昆士兰Gladstone提炼成氧化铝，之后在澳大利亚各地的冶炼厂进一步加工成铝。
