5月20日，《时代》杂志首次发布“百大慈善人物”（TIME100 Philanthropy），中国企业家马云上榜，同时入选的还有沃伦·巴菲特、梅琳达·盖茨、奥普拉·温弗瑞、威廉王子夫妇等在慈善领域做出特别贡献的影响力人物。

　　《时代》评价马云“支持未来的商界领袖”（Lifting up rising leaders），并援引马云曾说过：相信小的伟大，要帮助年轻人，帮助小人物。在年轻人心里播下种子，他们长大后，就会改变世界。

　　《时代》榜单表示，马云公益基金会成立于2014年，专注于教育、医疗、环境保护、企业家精神以及女性领导力项目。2019年新冠疫情期间，马云向150多个国家捐赠了数百万个口罩和医疗用品，依托阿里巴巴集团打造的物流供应链基础设施，支持全球公共卫生事业。2025年是马云公益基金会乡村教师计划启动的第十年，十年来支持了1001位乡村老师实现自己的教育理想，这些老师影响了成千上万的学生，马云则每年都和这些乡村教师们共赴持续十年的“腊八之约”，共同探索乡村教育的未来。

　　“他们重新定义了什么是领导力，并激励集体行动，推动我们前进。”《时代》杂志CEO杰西卡·西布里说。《时代》杂志总编辑山姆·雅各布斯也表示：“今天，慈善正在填补全球公共领域的许多空白。这些从事慈善事业的人们，已习惯于在自己擅长的领域取得成功，也在慈善事业中立即行动、带来改变。”
