Alphawave IP Gives Qualcomm More Time to Submit Takeover Offer

Alphawave IP Group said the deadline for Qualcomm to either announce a firm intention to make a takeover offer or walk away has been extended for a third time.

The U.K. semiconductor company said Tuesday that the deadline is now set to Monday, and that both parties remain in discussions in about a possible offer.

The deadline, originally set on April 29, had already been extended twice, first to May 12 and then to May 27.

Qualcomm said in early April that it was considering making an offer to acquire Alphawave, without disclosing financial details.

The company said there couldn't be any certainty that a firm offer would be made or what terms would be.
