The Australian Financial Review
26 May

Westpac chief executive Anthony Miller has poached his third senior executive from a major bank rival in as many months, with Andrew McMullan to exit Commonwealth Bank and report directly to him in the new position of chief data, digital and AI officer.

McMullan – who has spent nine years at CBA, most recently as chief data and analytics officer, where he pioneered its artificial intelligence strategy – will be the first group executive at a major bank with AI in his official job title. This points to Miller’s intentions to use artificial intelligence to create efficiencies and reduce costs, as he overhauls the bank’s technology systems.
