VietJet Aviation (HOSE:VJC) expanded its Airbus A330-900neo order by 20 aircraft, doubling its previous order, in a deal valued at $7.5 billion, Bloomberg News reported Monday.
The deal was finalized during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Hanoi. This latest purchase brings VietJet's total Airbus order book to nearly 140 planes, in addition to its 200 Boeing 737 Max jets on order, the news outlet said.
However, the airline is struggling financially after losing a $180 million legal battle with FitzWalter Capital over a leasing dispute. VietJet recently failed to make a $60.5 million payment related to the court ruling, casting doubt on its financial capacity to sustain large-scale investments, the report added.
