1248 GMT - There will likely be some disappointment that Stellantis didn't choose an outsider to succeed Tavares as CEO, Bernstein analysts say in a research note. Although Stellantis had initially favored an external candidate, the tariff plight and geopolitical tensions subsequently changed the focus to choosing a CEO who knew Stellantis intimately, the analysts say. At the end of 2024, the Stellantis board was considering former Apple CFO Luca Maestri as the successor, who seemed to fit the bill very well, the analysts say. Nevertheless, the Jeep maker picked Antonio Filosa as a safe pair of hands and young enough at 51 to have sufficient runway to make a long-term impact on the group's development, they say. Shares trade 0.6% lower at 9.17 euros. (nina.kienle@wsj.com)
