1334 ET - Channel checks show Abercrombie & Fitch's flagship brand may have endured a quarter-to-quarter slowdown in 1Q, Raymond James analysts say in a research note a day before the company's 1Q report is due. Promotions at the brand have been elevated for much of the quarter, they say. The company's Hollister brand is doing better across most checks and should still show robust growth this year, the analysts say. The A&F brand softness comes as the company faces down tariffs that are expected to dent its gross margin, given that it targets younger consumers who may balk if the company hikes prices, the analysts say.
