BOE Could Keep Interest Rates at 4.25% in 2025 -- Market Talk

1240 GMT - The Bank of England could keep interest rates at 4.25% for the remaining part of 2025 due to inflationary pressures, Berenberg economist Andrew Wishart says in a note. The increase in companies' national insurance contributions starting in April and rise in pay growth have added to businesses' costs and are likely to translate into higher inflation, Wishart says. Markets price in a 25-basis-point BOE interest rate cut in November, and a possible second interest rate cut in December, LSEG data shows. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
