Brenmiller Energy Ltd. has announced a significant advancement in energy storage technology with the deployment of its bGen™ thermal energy storage system in Spain as part of the SolWinHy Cádiz project. This off-grid green methanol production facility has secured €25 million in funding, with €7 million allocated to Brenmiller's thermal storage technology. The bGen™ system, which has been recognized among TIME's Best Inventions of 2023 in the Green Energy category, enables the storage and release of energy in the form of heat, offering critical flexibility and grid-balancing capabilities. The project underscores the growing importance of thermal energy storage in enhancing the adaptability and resilience of energy systems, particularly as Europe revisits nuclear power as a component of its decarbonization strategy.
