Valterra Platinum Expected to Keep Its Strategy Post-Demerger -- Market Talk

0952 GMT - Valterra Platinum's strategy is unlikely to change post-demerger, Barclays analysts write. Last year, when the business was still called Anglo American Platinum, the management shifted its focus to projects that require lower capital but generate more value, they write. This included shelving the expansion of the third concentrator at its Mogalakwena mine as there was no need to expand production capacity, they write. Valterra-operated assets are all in the bottom half of the cost curve and the miner will continue trying to optimise them, they write. Overall, any meaningful change in strategy isn't expected post demerger, they add. Shares trade down 2.2% at 704.16 South African rand. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
