Hong Kong Residential Rent Increases May Pick Up in Next Few Months -- Market Talk

0810 GMT - Residential rents in Hong Kong are likely to rise at a faster clip in the next few months, given that it's the traditional strong season from May to August, CGS International analysts write in an email. During this period, many mainland Chinese students seek to rent an apartment in Hong Kong ahead of the new academic year, and a continued influx of mainland talent and professionals to Hong Kong will also boost leasing demand, they say. Rents will likely increase an additional 4% this year, they add. The brokerage maintains its positive view on Hong Kong property. Among the stocks, Sun Hung Kai Properties, Kerry Properties and Henderson Land Development are its top picks. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
