Mondelez International (MDLZ) has filed a lawsuit against Aldi, claiming the supermarket chain sells products in "packaging that infringes the trade dress of numerous Mondelez products."
In its complaint filed in federal court earlier this week, Mondelez alleged that Aldi's packaging is "likely to deceive and confuse customers" and could negatively impact the business and its brands.
Mondelez is seeking monetary damages and a court order preventing Aldi from selling products infringing on its trademarks.
Aldi didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
