《彭博》引述消息指，新世界发展(00017.HK) 正争取在6月底前与逾50家银行达成本港有史以来最大规模的企业再融资协议。此前该公司已将最初的5月截止限期延后。据知情人士透露，目前至少有12家银行已同意条款，其余银行仍在磋商中。
报道称，若谈判失败，可能导致债权人要求立即还款。由此引发的连锁反应将同时威胁新世界和众多银行，该等银行已因商业房地产不良贷款激增而承压。知情人士称，事态如此严峻，多家银行的首席风险官已亲自介入，甚至银行的首席执行官(CEO)们也在通过频繁更新的报告密切关注进展。
新世界计划筹集875亿港元(约112亿美元)再融资。目前已获得中国银行、汇控、渣打、东亚银行、富邦银行(香港)、恒生银行及法国工商信贷银行等金融机构逾200亿港元的融资承诺。
