Meta Platforms (META) is partnering with American defense technology company Anduril to design and build extended reality products for the US military, according to a joint statement Thursday.
The companies said they will work together to provide warfighters with products that enhance perception and enable intuitive control of autonomous platforms on the battlefield. They said the collaboration builds on the social media company's existing Reality Labs investments and its efforts to boost the adoption of the Llama AI models for national security purposes.
Meta and Anduril said the partnership is funded through private capital and without taxpayer money and is designed to save the US military "billions of dollars."
