当地时间6月1日起，英国开始全面禁止销售一次性电子烟。此禁令旨在应对一次性电子烟在青少年群体中日益泛滥的问题，并解决其带来的环境污染隐患。
根据新规，包括便利店、超市在内的所有零售场所均不得销售一次性电子烟。初次违规的商家将被处以200英镑(约1937元人民币)罚款，并没收相关产品。屡教不改的违规者，将面临无上限罚款，甚至最高可达2年的监禁。
英国环境部消息称，长期以来，一次性电子烟不仅被随意丢弃，破坏街道整洁，还使青少年容易对尼古丁上瘾，禁令的实施迫在眉睫。此外，消防部门也发出警告，随意丢弃的一次性电子烟极易引燃其他垃圾，从而引发火灾。
英国医疗慈善机构“吸烟与健康行动组织”的调查数据显示，约11%的英国成年人有吸电子烟的习惯，在11岁至17岁的青少年群体中，这一比例约为18%。在18岁至24岁吸电子烟的人群里，超过半数倾向于选择一次性电子烟。虽然电子烟不含有害的焦油成分，但因其含有致瘾物质尼古丁，同样存在健康风险。
近年来，为保护公众健康，尤其是防止青少年接触电子烟，欧洲多个国家已陆续采取行动。比利时和法国已成功禁售一次性电子烟，爱尔兰也在筹备类似的禁令措施。
