Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) Chief Executive Officer C. C. Wei flagged a delay in the company's expansion in Japan due to traffic issues, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday.
Wei described the delay as minor, according to Bloomberg. The company said in an emailed statement that it plans to start construction at its second plant in Japan within the year, the report said.
Meanwhile, Wei reiterated Taiwan Semiconductor's commitment to spend an additional $100 billion to ramp up its manufacturing operations in Arizona over the next five years, Bloomberg added.
A spokesperson from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing told MT Newswires that the company has already started its JASM phase two project in Japan and plans remain unchanged. Taiwan Semiconductor also remains committed to investing in Japan, the spokesperson added.
