The communications-services sector finished lower on Tuesday, dropping amid losses for heavyweights Alphabet-Google's parent-and Meta, the parent of Facebook and Whatsapp.
Ribbon Communications, a cloud-communications company, announced an authorization to buy back $50 million of its stock. Shares jumped.
EchoStar shares fell after the company said it is skipping an interest payment related to its Dish DBS subsidiary. EchoStar, owner of Dish TV and Boost Mobile, said it is holding off on the interest payments pending an FCC review of its provision of 5G service.
