Signet Says Adding More Lab Grown Diamonds Helped Drive Sales -- Market Talk

0939 ET - Signet Jewelers says adding more lab-grown diamonds to its fashion jewelry assortment helped drive an increase in average unit prices as consumers traded up to the man-made stones. Lab grown diamonds sell for double the average unit price as other fashion jewelry. The rising price of gold also contributed to price increases. Average unit prices, which is merchandise sales divided by units, rose 8% in the quarter. Signet surges 10%. (suzanne.kapner@wsj.com)
