1412 GMT - Physical stores are key for Dutch grocer Ahold Delhaize to offer a personalized shopping experience, CEO Europe and Indonesia Claude Sarrailh says at the Shoptalk Europe retail conference in Barcelona. "Shops are the number one factor of the brand; it's why customers come to us," he says, adding that around 90% of sales come from physical stores. A key factor in attracting consumers to shops is to offer them a unique experience that can't take place in the digital environment, he says. The company has cooking demonstrations and cooks its bakery products in real time to give customers the best quality products.
