特朗普周四在与德国总理默茨会谈时表示，马斯克主要时对法案中削减电动车税收抵免感到沮丧。
特朗普说：“我对埃隆非常失望。我曾经帮助过埃隆很多。他曾用最美好的话来形容我，没说过我个人的坏话，但我相信接下来就会有了。”
马斯克在X上发帖否认反对法案是处于个人动机，他表示，如果立法者“扔掉法案中那堆令人恶心的‘猪肉’条款”，他对削减电动车抵免没意见。（注：“猪肉条款”是指法律中为讨好特定利益集团而增加的额外开支。）
特朗普在白宫说，“我很失望，因为埃隆对这项法案背后的内部运作比在座几乎任何人都了解得透彻。现在他突然对法案有了意见，而这种意见是在他发现我们必须削减电动车税收抵免后才出现的。”
