Uber Technologies (UBER) is considering using stablecoins for global money transfers, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi's interview at the Bloomberg Tech conference.

Stablecoins might have "a practical benefit other than crypto's historic value," Khosrowshahi told the news outlet. He added that stablecoins are "quite promising" for global companies as these digital tokens can lower the costs of transferring money across countries.

Uber didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

Shares were up 1.1% in recent trading.
