1833 ET [Dow Jones]--Microsoft's leadership shakeup demonstrates its confidence that agentic artificial intelligence is making software-as-a-service obsolete, an analyst says. Microsoft put its Office products under the purview of LinkedIn's CEO, which Moor Insights analyst Patrick Moorhead says will consolidate its office applications with its AI agent business. That will help Microsoft build AI more efficiently, as it has said it wants to shift away from SaaS, Moor says. Microsoft will also look more appealing to customers transitioning to AI, he says. "If a tech company wants to replace SaaS, the better-suited company is likely the one with both SaaS apps and agents." (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
