The Italian energy company Eni and YPF entered into an agreement for Argentina's liquified natural gas project.
Eni said Friday the agreement includes the steps that need to be taken to reach an investment decision regarding the project's production, treatment, transportation and liquefaction installations of 12 million tons of LNG annually.
The companies signed the agreement during a meeting between Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Argentina President Javier Milei, Eni said.
The project aims to develop the resources of Argentina's onshore Vaca Muerta field and serve international markets. It will export up to 30 million tons per year of LNG by 2030, Eni said.
The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed in April.
