Whitehaven Coal's (ASX:WHC) negotiations with Narrabri Underground coal miners concluded with the miners getting their preferred midweek/weekend roster, against the company's proposed 7/7 roster, according to the Mining and Energy Union statement published Friday.
The new enterprise agreement includes annual pay increases of 5%, 4%, and 4%, improved shift loadings of up to 20%, and increased retention and attendance bonuses.
The maximum retention bonus has been increased to AU$15,000 from AU$10,000, at AU$1,000 for every year of service, and an attendance bonus has been secured by the workers of up to AU$5,000.
The new agreement will backpay the workers to December 2024, covering 21 weeks.
The agreement also secured a three-year term, despite the company's preference for four, and maintained the maximum 10.5-hour shift length.
Under a new clause added to the agreement, the company cannot implement such a roster in the future.
Whitehaven Coal's shares rose 3% in recent Friday trade.
