针对美国有关司法部门称，两名中国留学生因走私危险菌种遭到调查起诉，6月7日，我驻芝加哥总领馆发言人在答记者问时表示，从美国媒体报道中得知此事，正通过有关渠道了解案情，并就美方执法部门未能履行中美领事条约规定的相关义务向美方提出了严正交涉。

发言人表示，中国政府一贯要求海外中国公民严格遵守当地法律法规，包括出入境相关规定。同时，中方依法维护海外中国公民的正当合法权益，坚决反对美方以意识形态和泛化国家安全为借口对有关案件搞政治操弄。
