智通财经APP获悉，6月9日，香港贸发局新上任主席马时亨表示，上任后有5大方面工作，包括探讨在北部都会区兴建会展场地，检视香港贸发局海外办事处的布局及定位等。他指香港贸发局现时有51个驻外办，他认为可作调整，例如可开拓非洲市场，现时非洲只有两个办事处，将研究是否可于合适地方增设更多。
他表示，在现时地缘政治、贸易战环境下接任香港贸发局主席一职，确实是会遇到不少挑战，但有信心与同事努力令香港贸易方面做得更好，并指香港的优势是免税港，能够做好超级连系及超级增值人的色角，至于未来拓展新市场，要根据形势及研究个别行业而定。
他又指，有向政府提议在香港举办亚洲金融论坛，但现在各机构也办同类活动，故要改革成“亚洲金融论坛plus”，并在金融以外引入更多行业，于明年1月举行。另也加新开的论坛，如开拓中东市场并在港办论坛。
