Sezzle Inc., a digital payment platform, has filed a lawsuit against Shopify Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, citing federal and state antitrust violations. The lawsuit claims that Shopify has been engaging in monopolistic practices to limit competition for "buy now, pay later" service options on its e-commerce platform. Sezzle is seeking an injunction to halt Shopify's alleged anticompetitive behavior and to promote competition and consumer choice. Additionally, Sezzle is pursuing damages that could potentially be tripled under applicable laws. Despite the litigation, Sezzle has reaffirmed its fiscal 2025 guidance.
