Retail Payments in Australia via Domestic-Issued Cards Up 0.3% in April

Retail payments in Australia via domestic-issued cards rose 0.3% to AU$91.2 billion in April following a 1.1% increase in March, data from the Reserve Bank of Australia showed Tuesday.

New payments platform transactions rose 2.9% to AU$195.4 billion, following a 0.5% decline. Total balances outstanding on credit and charge cards rose 0.2% to AU$41.8 billion, following a 0.3% decrease.

ATM withdrawals totaled AU$8.9 billion, down 0.6%.

In the year ended April, total retail payments rose 5%.
