智通财经APP获悉,由于WPP首席执行官Mark Read将于今年年底退休,这家全球最大的广告代理集团之一开始寻找继任者。根据周一发布的声明,现年58岁的Read已执掌这家英国公司约7年,并在该公司工作了30多年。
WPP曾是全球最大的广告公司,该公司一直在努力重振增长并精简运营,以应对销售疲软和前景黯淡的问题。全球经济低迷打击了客户支出,尤其是在亚洲,而人工智能技术在自动化广告创作和分发方面的崛起也引发了整个广告行业的担忧。
今年2月,WPP预计今年的销售额将持平或下降,低于分析师的预期,股价应声下跌;而竞争对手阳狮集团预计今年的有机增长率在4%至5%之间。
WPP此前曾重组品牌以削减成本,并宣布计划在新技术上投入数亿英镑,包括构建人工智能功能。
Bloomberg Intelligence资深行业分析师Matthew Bloxham表示,Read退休凸显了“其继任者面临的挑战,即如何克服多年来财务和股价表现逊于竞争对手的困境,并开启战略和结构性变革的前景。新任领导人需要加倍努力,精简机构、削减成本,并加大技术投资。”
WPP今年1月任命英国电信集团前首席执行官Philip Jansen为其董事长。
