Tronox Holdings plc, the world's leading integrated manufacturer of titanium dioxide pigment, has announced the publication of its 2024 sustainability report, detailing significant progress towards the company's sustainability targets. The report highlights a 21% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions intensity compared to the 2019 baseline, achieved through a shift to more renewable energy, notably from a solar project in South Africa, and enhanced process automation across its sites. Additionally, Tronox decreased waste to external landfills by 13%, attributed to producing less waste, recycling more materials, and exploring circular economy opportunities. The company also recorded one of the lowest total recordable injury rates in decades, ensuring safer work environments. Efforts to engage top-emitting suppliers in reducing their GHG emissions form part of Tronox's Scope 3 emissions reduction strategy. Furthermore, water management initiatives are being piloted at three locations to enhance water stewardship and set global targets. Tronox is also leveraging rare earths concentrates in its tailings to provide crucial metals for the clean energy transition. Chief Executive Officer John D. Romano emphasized that sustainability remains a core component of Tronox's vision for growth, aiming to fulfill its role as a sustainable business and a reliable supplier.
