June 11 - (The Insurer) - Guy Carpenter has said it is preparing legal action in response to the departure of senior staff members in Bermuda and London to WTW’s new Bain-backed reinsurance venture, asserting it will "vigorously pursue" its rights in court.

Following news that WTW's new reinsurance venture had recruited senior team members from Guy Carpenter's Bermuda office, a spokesperson for the Marsh McLennan reinsurance broking subsidiary said in a statement provided to The Insurer: “We look forward to continuing to deliver for our clients. We are preparing legal action in light of recent departures and intend to vigorously pursue our rights in court.”

A spokesperson for WTW declined to comment.

Sources indicated that among those expected to depart from Guy Carpenter Bermuda is CEO John Fletcher.

That followed The Insurer reporting on Monday that Jim Summers, Guy Carpenter's London-based deputy CEO of global specialties and global head of marine and energy, had resigned along with at least five senior team members to join Willis Re.
