Hilton Metal Forging (NSE:HILTON, BOM:532847) has manufactured its first railway forged wagon wheelset, according to a Wednesday filing on the Indian bourses.
The wheelset has been inspected and approved by RITES, the company said in the filing. Each set includes two forged wheels and one forged axle, with four sets required per wagon or coach, it added.
The company plans to scale up production to over 3,000 wheelsets in fiscal 2026 and more than 12,000 in fiscal 2027, with a total installed capacity of 20,000 sets annually, the filing said.
The initiative is aimed at replacing imports from China and catering to growing demand from Indian wagon manufacturers, it added.
