智通财经APP获悉，为配合香港机场三跑道系统而斥资约129亿港元重建的机场二号客运大楼(T2)扩建后，将于明年3-4月投入运作。机管局署理机场服务总监杨达荣表示，届时会有15间航空公司将柜台由一号客运大楼(T1)搬迁往T2，包括香港快运、香港航空及多间东南亚航空公司，至于国泰航空(00293)及其商务伙伴则会留在T1。
杨达荣接受本地传媒访问时指出，T2首阶段启用后，预计可服务1500万人次旅客，占全年数字大约20%，但预期香港快运等航空公司增长迅速，每年客运量可能很快达到2000万至3000万。视乎客运增幅，机管局会逐步增加进驻的航空公司数目，预期T2每年最多可服务5000万人次的旅客。
杨达荣指，T2紧贴机铁站，将来旅客在机场站下车，列车左右车门会打开，左边去T1，右边就去T2;旅客在二号大楼完成登机手续及寄运行李后，便可乘搭捷运系统，前往T2客运廊，车程约2.5分钟。
杨达荣提到，T2启用后，两个大楼将有不同定位，他以中环置地广场及尖沙咀K11商场作比喻，T1将其利用经典格局，定位服务商务客和长途旅客，T2则针对年轻旅客需要，主打年轻化和科技感，采用更多自助登记设施，回应较年轻客群的需求。
他表示，T2会分阶段启用，9月首先开放邻近机铁站的过境巴士大堂，届时该区将会有6间商店，包括餐饮和便利店等，同时投入服务。至于第二阶段则是明年3-4月，航空公司柜台会由T1搬迁到T2。
