A Saturday fire that took place at Marathon's 665,000 b/d Galveston Bay, Texas, refinery was extinguished, according to a company official.
"Trained teams extinguished a fire at Marathon's Galveston Bay refinery. There were no injuries," according to a company statement on Sunday. "The safety of responders, workers and the community is our first priority."
A filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality noted that the facility experienced a loss of primary containment in the resid hydrotreating unit which led to de-pressuring to the flare system.
The refinery is the largest in the U.S., according to the Energy Information Administration.
