AST SpaceMobile Inc. has announced a significant step forward in its goal to enhance satellite communication capabilities by entering a multi-party Term Sheet that facilitates long-term access to up to 45 MHz of premium lower mid-band spectrum in North America. This agreement, which includes major parties such as Ligado and Inmarsat, positions AST SpaceMobile to achieve peak data transmission speeds of up to 120 Mbps by pairing its low Earth orbit communication arrays with this additional spectrum. The transaction, valued at approximately $550 million, remains subject to regulatory approval, expected by the end of June. The agreement also involves substantial payments to Inmarsat on behalf of Ligado, contingent on regulatory approval and closing conditions. AST SpaceMobile has secured a $550 million institutional financing commitment to support this initiative.
